VISIT FROM UZBEK RECTOR SIROJIDDINOV TO RECTOR AKSOY

Prof. Dr. Shuhrat Sirojiddinov, the Rector of Uzbekistan Ali Şir Nevai Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature, and accompanying members visited Selcuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy.

In his speech, Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy said that Selcuk University was the research and scientific studies center of the region. Expressing that his ties with the Turkic Republics continue, Prof. Dr. Aksoy said: “We cooperate with our Uzbek brothers. We are also happy about that. I know Central Turkestan very well, I know and I lived there for a while. On the other hand, we support universities in that region. Our closest relations continue with Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan. Uzbekistan became one of the countries I visited most frequently after I took office. We have collaborations in various fields. We toured that area. We held an agriculture fair with Andijan Agricultural University in Andijan. We held meetings with the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan. We paid a visit there in December last year. I attended the Rectors' Summit held in Tashkent by the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. I was invited from Uzbekistan as the representative of Turkey. Our friends in Uzbekistan continue their cooperation. We are doing various works. We provide seminars and trainings. Pleased to meet you. Hopefully, we will continue to increase our cooperation and joint work.”

Rector Prof. Dr. Shuhrat Sirojiddinov gave information about Uzbekistan Ali Shir Nevai Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature. Explaining that Konya is an ancient city, Prof. Dr. Sirojiddinov expressed that they would be pleased to cooperate with Selcuk University in every field. Prof. Dr. Sirojiddinov thanked a lot to Rector Metin Aksoy for his great hospitality.

The visit ended with the presentation of gifts.
