STAKEHOLDERS OF SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE AND LIFE - LIVING SOILS PROJECT VISITED RECTOR AKSOY

The stakeholder members of the "Sustainable Agriculture and Life - Living Soils Project" coordinated by Konya Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, of which Selçuk University is one of the stakeholders, visited Selçuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy.

Selçuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy said that the University has a deep-rooted history and that they provide education to approximately 70 thousand students. Giving general information about Selçuk University, Prof. Dr. Aksoy also made explanations about the activities carried out by the University. Prof. Dr. Aksoy explained the importance of developing joint projects in the fields of climate change and agriculture.

During the visit, the importance of exchanging information on climate change and agriculture was emphasized.

Prof. Dr. Ali Kahraman, Konya - Karaman Agricultural Cooperatives Regional Union President Seyit Mehmet Dağ attended the visit held in the Senate Hall.

Among the guests from abroad within the scope of the project were Rolf Sieling, Agricultural Engineer from DEULA Nienburg GmbH Agricultural Training Center from Germany, Julio Roman Vazquez, Miguel Angel Repullo Ruiberriz de Torres, agricultural engineers from the European Federation of Preventive Agriculture from Belgium, Enzo Manni, Manager of Legacoop Cooperative and Michele Manni, Cooperative Lawyer from Italy, Prof. Dr. Emilio J. Gonzalez Sanchez, Faculty Member of Cordoba University and Antonio Manuel Conde Lopez, Agricultural Engineer from Cordoba University from Spain. Prof. Dr. Emilio J. Gonzalez Sanchez and Cordoba University Agricultural Engineer Antonio Manuel Conde Lopez from Spain.

The project, which has been running for three years with the support of the Turkish National Agency and has 8 stakeholders including Selcuk University, will end on November 30, 2022. The project team includes Selcuk University, Konya Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, Konya Plain Project Regional Development Administration, Central Union of Agricultural Cooperatives from Turkey. Cordoba University from Spain, DEULA Nienburg GmbH Agricultural Education Centre from Germany, European Federation of Preventive Agriculture from Belgium and Legacoop Cooperative from Italy are also part of the working team.

The project, which aims to create a cooperation network between countries with successful studies on sustainable agriculture, to exchange and disseminate good practices by sharing new ideas and methods, aims to improve the institutional capacities of all partners by operating at transnational level and to contribute to the professional development of technical staff and farmers in the sector.
