Stating that within the framework of the 2021 - 2023 Road Traffic Safety Action Plan, the human element is at the center of the planned activities and that priority is given to the activities aimed at making the right choices in traffic, Konya Provincial Police Chief Engin Dinç said, "We aim to make Konya, the city of peace and trust, safer for our citizens in line with the principle of safe traffic. We aim to minimize the loss of life in traffic with the investments made by our state."

Stating that the rate of injury accidents has decreased by approximately 65 percent and the rate of fatal accidents has decreased by 93 percent, Konya Metropolitan Municipality Head of Transportation Department Dr. Hasan Görgülü said, "We are doing important work to prevent accidents. There has been a serious increase in traffic after the pandemic period. We process the accidents that occur in Konya on the accident analysis platform, then we focus on these intersection points and areas where accidents are concentrated. Serious arrangements are being made in the city by carrying out studies on these areas."

"IT IS RECOGNIZED AS A PUBLIC HEALTH PROBLEM"

Reminding that deaths caused by traffic accidents are recognized as a public health problem in the world, Mehmet Yavuz, Head of Traffic at the General Directorate of Security, said: "This problem is a global issue that causes an average of 1 million 350 thousand people to die every year and around 78 million people to be permanently disabled and lose their limbs.
