1st International Selcuk Health Sciences Congress held
1st International Selcuk Health Sciences Congress was organized by Selcuk University Faculty of Health Sciences. The Congress held in Karatay Thermal Holiday Village was also attended by Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy.
Making the opening speech of the 1st International Selcuk Health Sciences Congress, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Emine Arslan said, “We organized the congress with the aim of contributing to the field of health, especially health policies, health education, health services and health research, to create an answer to current debates, and to bring together expert researchers in the field. Attending the congress from 9 different countries, namely the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Malaysia, Pakistan, Lithuania, America, United Kingdom, Indonesia, Iran and Turkey, more than 300 participants have contributed. On 1-2 December, nearly 250 papers will be presented, including students, healthcare professionals, healthcare services, patients, diseases and case reports, as well as research on disadvantaged groups such as women, children, and the homeless.”

Karatay Mayor Hasan Kılca said, “As local administrations, we, our government and our state, as well as our public institutions and organizations, have a common goal for our citizens to benefit from health services while designing our future together. I would like to thank everyone from different cities of our country, as well as from the ones from the USA, Lithuania, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Iran, Indonesia and Malaysia, who participated in our 1st International Selcuk Health Sciences Congress in Karatay and Konya.”

Selcuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy, on the other hand, said, “We have a University that acts in harmony with its environment, produces solutions to regional and national health problems, prioritizes preventive medicine and public health, and acts with the mission of providing health services supported by scientific and advanced technology. As Selcuk University, we pioneered studies that will set an example for Turkey during the epidemic process. We are the University where 2 separate vaccine studies being carried out, which is included in the list of the World Health Organization. Our university clearly demonstrates that it is aware of the fact that public health requires a holistic approach, with 5 faculties, 1 institute, 1 college, 1 vocational school and 10 research centers related to health. We support scientific studies more than ever, and we strive to make our University better.”
After the speeches, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Emine Arslan, Selcuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Tuğrul Polat, Mayor of Karatay Hasan Kılca, General Manager of Karatay Thermal Holiday Village Serkan Ersoy presented a plaque to Burhan Yurt, Sales and Marketing Manager of Karatay Thermal Holiday Village.
In the 1st International Selcuk Health Sciences Congress, supported by Konya Metropolitan Municipality and Karatay Municipality, many topics such as health services, education in the field of health, infectious diseases, child and women's health, research methods were discussed.
