President of YÖK Prof. Dr. Özvar attended the SU Senate Meeting

This week's Senate Meeting of Selcuk University was held with the participation of Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar Higher Education Council (YÖK) President. Stating that universities should be more visible, Prof. Dr. Özvar emphasized that Selçuk University is a well-established university with a tradition.

Coming to Konya for the Sustainable and Climate-Friendly Campus Project Pilot Universities Meeting, the President of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, Member of the Executive Board of YÖK Prof. Dr. Naci Gündoğan, Deputy Chairman of YÖK Prof. Dr. Cevahir Uzkurt, Member of the Executive Board of YÖK Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Karaman and Gazi University Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldızalso attended the Senate Meeting with Rector of Selçuk University Prof. Dr.  Metin Aksoy.

Stating that our universities should be supported in areas where they can produce relative competition, Prof. Dr. Özvar said, “We believe that universities should be more visible. We distribute all the resources we have within the framework of this strategy. If our universities support the academic staff who prioritize science and create an incentive scheme related to them, we will go much further in a short time. We are open to international interaction. The main thing here is the appreciation we will offer to science and the support we will give to those who will deal with science. Science requires dedication. Selcuk University will continue to support scientific production. Selcuk University is a university that will continue as a research university in Turkey with its potential. I closely follow the articles written at Selcuk University and how many citations they receive. We did not make any effort to classify universities. Selcuk University is a long-established university with a tradition; It has a well-established staff.”

Stating that the studies on certification or crediting the skills to be acquired through some modular programs to increase digital skills are continuing, Prof. Dr. Özvar said, “The university, which cannot choose its students, falls behind in the competition. State universities need to build their own student profile and try to attract it here. For this, teachers need to be visible.”
