Activity books are being prepared for children affected by the disaster
In cooperation with Selçuk University Vocational School of Health Services and KADEM Konya Provincial Representation, "activity books" are being prepared by faculty members for pre-school children staying in KYK dormitories in Alaeddin Keykubat Campus.
Stating that they came together at an important event that requires sensitivity, Selçuk University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Emrullah Eken stated that everyone has serious responsibilities to bring children affected by the earthquake back to life. Prof. Dr. Eken said, “We need to embrace such activities and occasions so that our children can overcome the negativities. “We must support them to connect to life by diverting their attention.” said.
Prof. Dr. Eken said that children and their families need in-kind and cash aid as well as moral support during this period.

Health Services Vocational School Child Development Program Dr. Lecturer Member Ayşegül Sarıkaya also stated in her statement that the project was first started for students in kindergarten and village schools. Stating that they started to plan the project for pre-school children after the disaster, Sarıkaya said: “It is a project carried out together with the faculty members at Selçuk University and it is still ongoing. We create activity books for children of all age groups. We also give ready-made toys as gifts, but these are handmade and activity books suitable for the age group of children. As Selçuk University and KADEM, we are preparing activity books that every child between the ages of 3 and 6 can enjoy.” she said.
Dr. emphasized that apart from the activity books project, they also created 9 game rooms and 3 kindergarten classes in KYK dormitories as Vocational School of Health Services and Faculty of Health Sciences. Lecturer Member Sarıkaya noted that game rooms and classrooms will be available as of this week.
