Kindergarten students visited Prof. Dr. Erol Güngör Library
Students of Nasreddin Hodja Practice Kindergarten affiliated to Selçuk University Faculty of Health Sciences visited Selçuk University Prof. Dr. Erol Güngör Library as part of the "59th Libraries Week" celebrated with the main theme "The Library Heals".
Kindergarten students, accompanied by their teachers, visited the libraries and newspaper archive.
Nasreddin Hodja Implementation Kindergarten Director Türkan Yiğit Kolçak said in her statement that they visited Prof. Dr. Erol Güngör Library within the framework of Libraries Week. Stating that they organized the program to raise children's awareness of books at an early age, Kolçak said, "We carried out our visit as 3 classes with about 40 children. There is an expression called 'The tree bends while it is young.' Based on this, children's tendencies, skills and behaviors can be changed positively at an early age. It is very valuable for children to see, touch, feel affection for, and learn that there is information in a beautiful source such as a book, where knowledge and culture are acquired and our horizons develop, at a young age. Children love modeling. The presence of libraries, bookshelves and parents who read books at home will reflect positively on the child. This issue will definitely have a positive impact on language development, knowledge and cognitive development in the 0 - 6 age period. Especially the excessive use of phones and television in children's lives negatively affects the situation of our books. Therefore, instead of overwhelming children with too many toys at an early age, reading books together and interactive book reading should be provided. This practice also contributes to children's early literacy. Books should not be missing from a child's life."
