Selçuk Capsule Hyperloop Team wins first prize at TEKNOFEST
Selçuk University Selçuk Capsule Hyperloop Team won the first prize in TEKNOFEST 2023 Hyperloop Development Competition.
Selçuk Kapsül Hyperloop Team members, advised by Faculty of Technology lecturer Enes Yücel consists of Cemal Karabulut, Furkan Kayaalp, Ömer Can, Fatih Mete Demir, Mervan Munis, Barış Doğanşah, Abdullah Çelebi, Yasin Çelebi, Furkan Karaüzüm, Umut Ulaş Aydın, İsmail Arda Aytaç, Hakan Uslu, Mete Çiçek and Yasin Şahin.
Selçuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy said that, as the University, they strive to help students realize their dreams. He stated that it is extremely valuable for students to see their projects supported in competitions rather than getting degrees and achieving certain first places. Dr. Aksoy said, “Selçuk University makes this difference felt. We invite our students who will choose our university in the new exams to our university.”
Selçuk Capsule Hyperloop Team Member Barış Doğanşah stated that Hyperloop projects are the 5th generation rail transportation system. Explaining that the project aims to reach higher speeds by preventing rail and air friction, Doğanşah said, "There are many examples of this in the world. China, the UK and Elon Musk have development projects. The aim here is to theoretically reach speeds of 1,200 kilometers per hour."
Selçuk Capsule Hyperloop Team Advisor Assist. Assoc. Enes Yücel stated that the project includes issues that need to be studied, especially vacuuming the tunnel and overcoming the resistances that the vehicle encounters while trying to reach the speed of sound while moving in the tunnel.
