Selcuk University selected as "Specialized University"

The Council of Higher Education granted "Priority Field Mission" to 25 universities in 15 fields of science. Selçuk University was selected as a "Specialized University" in the field of Digital Technologies in Agriculture by YÖK.

The Universities Specializing in Priority Areas Project Introduction Meeting was held at the Higher Education Council (YÖK) Conference Hall. Speaking at the opening of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, President of the Council of Higher Education, said that in order to determine the Priority Science and R&D Areas to be supported for the Universities Specializing in Priority Areas Project, the Presidency of the Council of Higher Education examined various reports and policy documents such as priority sectors, areas and sub-areas in the 11th Development Plan, field-based competence analysis reports of universities, technology road maps in priority and key technologies, R&D and innovation issues of relevant institutions and organizations.

Following this study, 43 state universities and 78 foundation universities were evaluated and their departments or programs showing expertise and competence in these fields were re-examined within the framework of the publication and citation performances in the 2018-2022 period and the Field-Based Competence Analysis Report of Universities prepared by TÜBİTAK, Özvar said, "As a result of the evaluations, It has been decided by our Higher Education Council to grant 'Priority Field Mission' to the relevant departments or programs of 25 state and foundation universities in 15 fields of science."

After the speech, Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar presented certificates to the officials of the universities specializing in priority areas. Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Emrullah Eken received the certificate on behalf of Selçuk University, which was selected by YÖK as a "Specialized University" in the field of Digital Technologies in Agriculture.
