'Multidisciplinary Approaches in Cerebral Palsy' was discussed at Selçuk University

A training meeting on "Multidisciplinary Approaches in Cerebral Palsy" was organized by Selçuk University Faculty of Medicine.

In the training meeting held at Sultan Alparslan Cultural Center, Turkey's expert physicians in their  field made a presentation on  "What is Cerebral Palsy? ", "The Importance of Rehabilitation Clinic in Spasticity Associated with Cerebral Palsy", Botulinumm Toxin Applications in Cerebral Palsy Spasticity and Post Rehabilitation Program", "Drug Therapy in Cerebral Palsy Spasticity", "Orthopedic Surgery Decision in Cerebral Palsy" and "Physiotherapy Approach in Premature Infants and Children with Cerebral Palsy".

Prof. Dr. İlhan Çiftci, Vice Rector of Selçuk University, expressed his pleasure to come together in an important program at the opening of the training meeting. Stating that cerebral palsy should be defined as a process and a condition rather than a disease, Prof. Dr. Çiftci said that many branches have been involved in the field and made it a multidisciplinary structure. Prof. Dr. Çiftci said, "We do not only treat a person with cerebral palsy. We need to make approaches at a level that will intervene in a family and a society. We will see how necessary a multidisciplinary approach is in our meeting. We will try to get answers to our questions."

Prof. Dr. Çiftci added that Selçuk University faculty members and students exhibited successful examples of multidisciplinary studies at TEKNOFEST Istanbul.

Prof. Dr. Funda Levendoğlu, Head of the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation at Selçuk University Faculty of Medicine, stated that cerebral palsy is a condition that affects millions of people around the world and said, "When we say cerebral palsy, we do not only think of posture, movement and coordination disorders. People affected by this condition struggle with difficulties in their daily lives. We are dedicated to making our individuals' lives easier. Our aim is to raise awareness and support each other as a scientific committee by sharing our experience and knowledge. I wish our meeting to be informative, enlightening and guiding."
