1/23/2025 Coordinatorship of Corporate Communication

The harvest of the wheat grown at Sarıcalar Research and Application Farm within the Faculty of Agriculture of Selçuk University, started with the participation of Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy.

Selçuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy said that, as a university, they are among the most important research and development universities in the region. Stating that they contribute to scientific studies and field practices of academics in the fields that Türkiye needs, Prof. Dr. Aksoy said, “With the harvest we did today, we had the opportunity to see the experiments of our academicians in their application areas. What is valuable to us is to contribute to the domestic and national production potential and to support scientific activities in domestic and national production processes. In this context, application areas need to be created for our students so that they can receive practical training as well as theoretical education. As a university, we contribute to these. Today, there are trial fields for our students as well as fields where scientific studies are carried out."

“WE CARRY OUT STUDIES ON LOCAL AND NATIONAL SEEDS”

Rector Prof. Dr. Aksoy stated that the students received training in the trial fields for the first time and carried out sowing and planting activities. Explaining that academician-student integrity contributes greatly to the future of the University and Türkiye, Prof. Dr. Aksoy said, “The products we are harvesting in this field as of today are, of course, products such as wheat and barley, but on the other hand, experiments are also being carried out that will contribute to the seed production of our country. As it is known, sugar beet, sunflower and purple carrot seeds are largely imported. Therefore, I hope that, as the University, we will contribute to the production of our national seeds in the near future in terms of local and national seed production. As a university, we wish to introduce our national seeds to our farmers in the market. While our academicians are doing their work in laboratories, they are also contributing to domestic seed production with TÜBİTAK projects."
