Selcuk University brought scientists together

"12th International Balkan Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Association (BAPRAS) Congress" was held by Selçuk University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery.

At The 12th International Balkan Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Association (BAPRAS) Congress which was held at the Selçuklu Congress Center, hosted by the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, Selçuk University Faculty of Medicine, with the contributions of the Balkan Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Association (BAPRAS) and the Turkish Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Association (TPRECD),  Selçuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy made his speech after Necmettin Erbakan University Faculty of Medicine, Head of Plastic Surgery Department, Prof. Dr. Nedim Savacı, former President of the Balkan Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Association (BAPRAS) Prof. Dr. Ali Barutçu, former President of the Turkish Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Association (TPRECD) Prof. Dr. İbrahim Yıldırım, President of Turkish Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Association (TPRECD) Prof. Dr. Cenk Demirdöver and Selçuk University Faculty of Medicine, Head of Plastic Surgery Department and Congress President Prof. Dr. Zekeriya Tosun.

Stating that as Türkiye enters the 21st Century, remarkable developments are witnessed in many areas, Rector Prof. Dr.Aksoysaid, “Today, Türkiye is the fifth country in the world in the field of plastic surgery.As Selçuk University, we have taken important steps in education, research and health services.We attach great importance to health sciences by hosting the Faculties of Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, Pharmacy and Health Sciences.The existence of these faculties also reflects our commitment to a holistic approach to public health.We believe in the transformative power of advanced technologies in health.We have made significant investments in innovative training methods.Equipped with virtual reality technology, our Simulation Training Center allows students to practice medical operations with unprecedented reality.This innovative approach eliminates the need for cadavers and provides our medical practitioners with hands-on experience, preparing them for the challenges and opportunities of modern healthcare.”

Before the congress, 10 educators trained more than 30 doctors from different countries of the world with live surgeries and courses at Selçuk University Faculty of Medicine Hospital. At the 12th Balkan Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Association (BAPRAS) Congress, participants were informed about new developments in aesthetic and plastic surgery. At the congress held in English, participants were also given practical information through live surgeries and applications. Within the scope of the congress, the Turkic Republics Plastic Surgery Summit was also held with the participation of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, as well as Türkiye.

Türkiye is hosting the congress, which was held for the twelfth time this year, with the participation of scientists from 13 Balkan countries and Central Asian Republics, for the second time. The congress, where 40 sessions will be held, was planned as one day with live surgeries and live courses at Selçuk University Faculty of Medicine Hospital, and three days as sessions in four halls. Social programs and city tours were also planned to promote Konya culture within the scope of the congress, where nearly 400 scientists will participate and more than 300 papers will be presented. Balkan Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Association will be turned into a federation this year and will be enabled to work more actively. Konya will also host the establishment of the Association of Plastic Surgeons of Turkish Speaking Countries. The congress will end on September 16.
