Awareness training on women cancers

The training titled "Women's Cancer Awareness Project" organized by Selçuk University Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Midwifery, Karatay Municipality and Karatay City Council Women's Assembly within the scope of the 100th anniversary of the Republic started.

 At the opening of the program held at Karatay Municipality Assembly Meeting Hall, Prof. Dr. Emine Arslan, Dean of Selçuk University Faculty of Health Sciences, said that as a faculty, they strive to train future midwives, child development specialists, social workers, dieticians, physiotherapists, audiologists, health managers, emergency aid and disaster managers. Stating that it is important for women to take care of their own health in order for the family and society to remain healthy, Arslan said that bad habits such as smoking and alcohol as well as the consumption of processed foods are among the factors that cause cancer. Arslan said, "Valuable lecturers of the Midwifery Department of our faculty will give cancer awareness training today and tomorrow. Our advice to women, the pillar of society, is to care and control yourself. Early diagnosis saves lives. Do not neglect your annual cancer screenings. In addition, if there is a cancer case in the family, we recommend you to have routine checks."

 Karatay City Council Women's Assembly President Fazilet Koçyiğit stated that they came together in an important educational activity to raise awareness and thanked those who contributed to the program.

After the opening speech, Project Coordinator, Vice Head of the Department of Midwifery Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hacer Alan Dikmen made a presentation on "Female Reproductive Organs and Reproductive Physiology and Risk Factors in Female Cancers".

Project Researchers Assoc. Prof. Dr. Seyhan Çankaya, "Cervical Cancer, Risk Factors, Diagnosis and Treatment Methods", Assoc. Assist. Cevriye Ocaktan Tetikçok made a presentation on "Ovarian Cancer, Endometrium Cancer Risk Factors, Diagnosis and Treatment Methods".

The program ended with a presentation on "Early Diagnosis and Treatment Methods in Women Cancers" by Selda Özer Okur, a midwife from Konya Provincial Health Directorate.
