Sustainable cities and urban landscapes were explained at Selçuk University
Selçuk University Faculty of Architecture and Design, Department of Landscape Architecture organized the 2nd International Congress on Sustainable Cities and Urban Landscapes (ICSULA 2023) within the scope of 100 Events in the 100th Year of our Republic.
ICSULA 2022, the first congress on sustainable cities and urban landscapes, was hosted by Selçuk University Faculty of Architecture and Design. The 2nd International Congress on Sustainable Cities and Urban Landscapes (ICSULA 2023) aimed to bring together scientists from various countries of the world, share research on urban studies and bring them together on a common platform.
Delivering the opening speech of the congress, Prof. Dr. Banu Öztürk, Head of the Congress and Faculty of Architecture and Design, Department of Landscape Architecture, said: "The goal of the actors who are effective in the shaping and development of the city is to minimize the impact on natural resources and cultural assets with the right planning and design approach, and this should always be the case."
Prof. Dr. Serpil Önder, Head of the Department of Landscape Architecture, Faculty of Architecture and Design, Selçuk University, said: "The adaptation of sustainable cities, which are spatial organizations that have achieved economic and ecological goals, have a high level of social welfare and take into account the interests of future generations, should be one of the priority goals of countries."
Prof. Dr. Rabia Köse Doğan, Dean of Selçuk University Faculty of Architecture and Design, said: "The main purpose of urban landscape planning is to bring together natural and ecological approaches, social and urban needs, psycho-physiological needs, security, transportation and infrastructure services with an artistic and aesthetic perspective."
After the speeches of Prof. Dr. Ruşen Keleş, Faculty Member of Cappadocia University Faculty of Architecture, Design and Fine Arts, Dr. Mustafa Latif Emek, President of the Institute of Economic Development and Social Research (IKSAD) and Prof. Dr. Savaş Zafer Şahin, Vice President of Ankara City Council, the panel started.
In the congress held at the Sultan Alparslan Cultural Center; what needs to be done to restore the quality of life that has decreased and lost in cities as a result of human activities or natural disasters, the factors that cause problems and short - long-term solutions were discussed.
A total of 196 papers were presented at the 2nd International Congress on Sustainable Cities and Urban Landscapes, attended by scientists from 16 countries, including Turkey.
