The Republic, the gift of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, was celebrated with enthusiasm on its 100th anniversary

October 29th Republic Day was celebrated with various activities in Konya as well as all over the country and in foreign missions. While the performances of Selçuk University Anatolian Caucasian Folk Dance Ensemble were admired at the ceremony on Feritpaşa Street, this year's Reception Ceremony was held at Selçuk University Keykubad Mansion.

On October 29th Republic Day, the first ceremony was held at the Monument Area. Governor of Konya Vahdettin Özkan and Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality Uğur İbrahim Altay presented wreaths at the Atatürk Monument. "One Hundred Bicycles: Teacher - Student Meeting" themed bicycle tour was started and Selçuk University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Emrullah Eken also attended the ceremony.

After Governor Özkan accepted congratulations, a celebration ceremony was held on Feritpaşa Street. Governor Vahdettin Özkan and Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay congratulated the participants of the ceremony.

In his speech, Governor Vahdettin Özkan said, "Unfortunately, the world is watching the brutal massacres in Palestine by disregarding the rights to life and the values of the Republic. I invite all humanity to be sensitive to this persecution."

Karatay Mevlana Mevlana Girls Anatolian Imam Hatip High School student Şerife Sena Barın read poems titled "Towards the Mediterranean", Meram Naciye Mumcuoğlu Anatolian High School student Enda Nur Zeytinci read poems titled "Long Live the Republic", Selçuklu Anatolian High School student Zahit Kerem Dağmenaslı read poems titled "The Sun Shining for a Hundred Years" and Selçuk University Anatolian Caucasian Folk Dance Ensemble performed folk dances and Caucasian dance.

The ceremony on Feritpaşa Street ended with the awarding of prizes to the students who ranked in the painting, poetry and composition competitions on the Republic organized among primary and secondary schools, the 3rd Main Jet Base Command of the Air Forces Command fighter aircraft parade and the parade.

The October 29th Republic Day Reception Ceremony organized by the Governorship of Konya was held at the Keykubad Mansion of Selçuk University. The ceremony hosted by Governor Vahdettin Özkan and his wife Dr. Ruhan Özkan was attended by the city protocol, military personnel, families of martyrs, veterans and guests.

Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy chatted with the guests and congratulated them on their feasts.

Selçuk University has organized 40 events so far within the scope of "100 Events in the 100th Year of our Republic". The events, organized with the participation of academicians, administrative staff and students in many fields from science to cinema, music to sports, will continue until the end of 2023.

Delivering the October 29th Republic Day message of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Governor of Konya Vahdettin Özkan said, "I congratulate you on your Republic Day. I am very happy to breathe the Republic together in its 100th anniversary."

October 29th Republic Day celebration cake was also cut at the ceremony.
