KVKK President Prof. Dr. Bilir gave a conference at Selçuk University
Selçuk University Law Faculty Personal Data Protection and Informatics Society organized a conference titled "Personal Data Protection Law and its Implementation".
Making the opening speech of the conference organized at the Faculty of Law, Baturalp Güner, President of the Faculty of Law Personal Data Protection and Informatics Community, said, "In our age of rapidly developing technology, the importance of information law and personal data is increasing and new areas are opening up in law."
Prof. Dr. Faruk Bilir, President of the Personal Data Protection Authority, who attended the conference as a speaker, said: "Everyone has the right to request the protection of personal data about him/her. This right includes the right to be informed about personal data about oneself, to access such data, to request their correction or deletion, and to learn whether they are used for their intended purposes. Personal data can only be processed in cases stipulated by law or with the explicit consent of the person."
Stating that Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data aims to protect fundamental rights and freedoms and to regulate the obligations of natural and legal persons who process personal data and the procedures and principles to be followed, Prof. Dr. Bilir noted that any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person is personal data. Prof. Dr. Bilir emphasized that the person concerned has the right to learn whether his/her personal data is being processed, to request information if it has been processed, and to learn the purpose of processing and whether it is used in accordance with its purpose.
