The units added to Selçuk University Faculty of Letters were opened.
The opening of the Martyr Teacher Hüseyin Yavuz Library, Reading Hall, Conference Hall and Psychology Laboratory, which were added to the Faculty of Letters of Selçuk University, was attended by Rector Prof. Dr. It was held with the participation of Metin Aksoy.
Hüseyin Yavuz, a graduate of Selçuk University, Faculty of Science and Letters, Department of History, was kidnapped and martyred on October 22, 1993, along with his 3 teacher friends and the village imam, while he was a teacher at Diyarbakır Hazro Dadaşlar Village Primary School for 15 days. The library, reading room and conference hall at Selçuk University Faculty of Letters were named after the martyr teacher.
Selçuk University Secretary General Prof. Dr. Kamil Beşoluk, Dean of the Faculty of Letters Prof. Dr. Speaking at the opening ceremony attended by Mehmet Ali Hacıgökmen, Martyr Teacher Hüseyin Yavuz's mother Memnune Yavuz, his brother Mehmet Yavuz and nephew Hüseyin Yavuz, academicians and students, Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy said, “May God have mercy on our martyrs. May they rest in peace. Thanks to them, our country has reached these points. Selçuk University is our family. Our students are very valuable to us. You are studying in a very good, quality school. You should not return to societies governed by social media perceptions. You have a goal. You will take our country to better places without making any excuses. Today, we have thousands of graduates who rule Turkey and become managers in the world. This culture and identity will bring you success. You need to move quickly towards your goal without falling into despair.” said.
Prof. chatted with the family of Martyr Teacher Hüseyin Yavuz and the students. Dr. Aksoy said, “Since the day we took office, we have developed all our units at Selçuk University equally. We solved the problems regarding the personal rights of our academics. We did not turn a deaf ear to the problems. We took steps to ensure that our students receive a better education. Our expectation is to raise academicians and young people who work day and night with the thought of homeland and nation. The academicians and generations who struggle for this are valuable to us. "Selçuk University, which has a corporate culture and identity, has become a shining star in the region." he said.There are 10 thousand 520 books registered in the library of 40 people named after Martyr Teacher Hüseyin Yavuz. The Reading Hall has a capacity of 70 people and the conference hall has a capacity of 60 people. Clinical, observation and interview classes can be held in the Psychology Laboratory. In clinical courses, students are given the opportunity to watch while instructors interview clients. Technology-based experiments can be conducted and individuals' attention and interests can be determined.
