Selcuk University upgraded to "Candidate Research University" status

Selçuk University, which is shown as an example in many fields such as the innovations it has brought to the world of science, the projects it has implemented within the framework of university-industry cooperation, the technical and physical facilities it offers to students and academicians, social facilities and sports activities, has been promoted to the status of "Candidate Research University" as a result of the evaluations made by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) within the scope of the "Research-Oriented Specialization Project".

To the Research Universities Candidate Monitoring Program Meeting held at the Council of Higher Education; President of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Higher Education Prof. Dr. Haldun Göktaş, Higher Education Executive Board Members Prof. Dr. Naci Gündoğan, Prof. Dr. Erol Arcaklıoğlu, Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak, Prof. Arif Bilgin, Secretary General Batıkan Aksoy, Selçuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy, Akdeniz University Rector Prof. Cantürk, Ondokuz Mayıs University Rector Prof. Dr. Yavuz Ünal, Sakarya University Rector Prof. Dr. Hamza Al attended.

Selçuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy said, "Our University, which takes its name from the ancient Seljuk civilization, is one of the most productive higher education institutions in Turkey with its deep-rooted scientific tradition, innovative educational approach and rich academic staff. We will strive to fulfill our duty to make our University, which is an institution that closely follows all developments in science, art, culture and social fields and supports them with all its means, even stronger."

Emphasizing that Selçuk University, which draws its strength from these lands where peace and justice ruled for centuries and from its ancient civilization that shaped the world, will continue to develop and rise in a manner worthy of its glorious past and its respected name in the world of science, Prof. Dr. Aksoy said, "We will continue to work with all our efforts to add new values to our University, which is a world university that brings tradition together with the future."

Along with Selçuk University, Akdeniz, Gaziantep, Kocaeli, Ondokuz Mayıs and Sakarya universities were also included in the "Research Universities Candidate Monitoring Program".

Within the scope of the "Research Universities" program launched by the Council of Higher Education in 2021, there are a total of 23 research universities in Turkey. Research universities are evaluated according to a total of 32 performance indicators on research capacity, research quality, interaction and cooperation.
