Bangladeshi students studying at Selçuk University planted saplings

Selcuk University, Honorary Consulate of Bangladesh in Konya, Konya Regional Directorate of Forestry and Solidarity Association of Environmental Organizations (ÇEKUD) have planted approximately 2 thousand larch and cedar saplings in the memorial forest created in the name of Bangladesh's founder Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.Selçuk University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Emrullah Eken, Bangladesh Ambassador to Turkey M Amanul Haq, Bangladesh Honorary Consul to Konya Deniz Bulkur, Konya Regional Director of Forestry Cafer Bal, Konya Provincial Representative of Association for Solidarity of Environmental Organizations (ÇEKUD) Ali Ağar, Bangladeshi students studying at Selçuk University and universities and high schools in Konya, members of Irfan Life Association and Konya Virtuous Sports Club attended the sapling planting program held in Çandır Neighborhood of Selçuklu District.

Speaking at the ceremony, Konya Regional Director of Forestry Cafer Bal said, "We are organizing this event together with Bangladeshi students studying in Konya in order to leave a memory. We are planting 2 thousand larch and cedar saplings on 2 hectares of land. Our Bangladeshi students are planting saplings to strengthen the friendship and brotherhood between Turkey and Bangladesh. We will leave this forest as a memory for future generations."

Bangladesh Ambassador to Turkey M Amanul Haq said, "I am very happy to be here. I would like to thank everyone who participated in the event. It is a very important event for us. Today is the 52nd anniversary of Bangladesh's independence. I hope this forest will benefit both the greening of the world and climate problems. At the same time, it will be a symbol of the brotherhood between Bangladesh and Turkey." 

Selçuk University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Emrullah Eken said, "We are here for a sacred event. These saplings will be a source of oxygen for our future generations. All living things will benefit from these saplings. One tree will be a shelter and ecosystem for hundreds of living things. It is also important that this event is organized on the 52nd anniversary of Bangladesh's independence. I would like to thank all participants, especially Bangladesh Ambassador to Turkey M Amanul Haq."

After the speeches, protocol members and students planted larch and cedar saplings. Bangladesh Ambassador to Turkey M Amanul Haq presented a gift to Selçuk University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Emrullah Eken for his support.
