CAD-CAM Laboratory opened at SU Faculty of Dentistry
The opening of CAD (Computer Aid Design) CAM (Computer Aid Manufacturing) Laboratory in Selçuk University Faculty of Dentistry was held with the participation of Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy.
Rector of Selçuk University Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Ahmet Tuğrul Polat, Prof. Dr. Emrullah Eken, Secretary General Prof. Dr. Kamil Beşoluk, Dean of Faculty of Dentistry Prof. Dr. Abdullah Kalaycı, Deputy Secretary General Hizmet Özdemir, vice deans, academicians, administrative staff and students attended the opening programme of CAD-CAM Laboratory.
Giving information about the laboratory devices, Prof. Dr. İsa Yöndem, Head of the Department of Prosthodontics, Faculty of Dentistry, said that they can perform computer-aided design and manufacturing of prostheses used in dental treatment with CAD-CAM devices. Prof. Dr. Yöndem said, "With CAD-CAM devices, the patient's mouth is first scanned and the data is transferred to the digital environment, and then the prostheses are designed in a virtual environment in accordance with the patient's mouth structure by drawing on the computer. With the use of this system, prosthesis treatments are carried out in the highest quality and in a short time."
Stating that CAD-CAM technology provides great convenience, Selçuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy said, "Thanks to these systems, everything can be seen in digital environment with scans and transfers made at the point of application and patient treatment can be performed easily. Thus, the margin of error at the point of operation is reduced, which saves time while revealing quality. Besides all these, most importantly, patient victimisation is prevented. I wish our laboratory to be auspicious and auspicious."
After the opening of the CAD-CAM Laboratory, Rector Prof. Dr. Aksoy examined the devices used.
