An "In-Service Training on Personal Data Protection Law" was organized by Selcuk University (SU) Personnel Department. Prof. Dr. Faruk Bilir, President of the Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK), who attended the training, stated that they control and carry out data processing procedures in Turkey in an orderly and disciplined manner.

Stating that maximum attention and care should be taken during data processing as a public institution, Ak said, "While violations of personal data lead to legal sanctions, they also cause loss of trust. We are obligated to carefully review our data processing procedures, continuously update our cybersecurity measures, and most importantly, continuously increase our awareness on this matter. As Selcuk University, our goal is to create a fully digitalized, secure University environment that encompasses transparent, secure, and legally compliant data processing procedures."

Personal Data Protection Authority President Faruk Bilir provided information about the institution's duties and regulations in data processing procedures.

President Bilir stated: "Our institution ensures that data processing procedures in Turkey are carried out in an orderly and disciplined manner through control. First, the right to protection of personal data was regulated with the 2010 Constitutional amendment. Then, as a requirement of this constitutional right, the Personal Data Protection Law came into effect on April 7, 2016. This Law has a structure that protects fundamental rights and freedoms in data processing procedures. It ensures that data is processed in an orderly and disciplined manner rather than arbitrarily. It also brings certain obligations to those who hold the data"

Providing information about data breaches and their reporting, President Bilir stated that they have received 47,038 notifications, complaints, and applications since 2017, and have concluded 45,263 of them. Bilir added that 1,601 data breach notifications were submitted to the board, and 353 of these were published on the institution's website.
