Selçuk University, the first university of Konya, took its name and symbol from the Anatolian Seljuks.
SU Brand Identity Visual Design is designed in the most appropriate form for the brand identity in an applicable standard by remaining faithful to the original forms of the animal figure (double-headed eagle) belonging to the Seljuk (XIIth century) period from the architectural fragments of Konya Castle in İnce Minareli Madrasa (Stone and Wood Works Museum).
The eagle symbol has symbolized power and majesty in Eastern and Western civilizations. The eagle, also referred to as the ruler of the skies, is expressed by its closeness to the sun as it can fly higher than other birds. Symbolizing the elements of air and fire, the eagle became the symbol of rulers. The archaeological find that supports this idea is the inscription "Sultan" on the chest of the double-headed eagle figure on the tile found during the excavations of Kubâdâbât Palace, an Anatolian Seljuk palace. The symbolization of the eagle as a double-headed eagle suggests that it was placed in an even more inaccessible category than its current position. Those at the head of the government are represented by the double-headed eagle as they are the representatives of both the religion (Caliph) and the state. The figure of the double-headed eagle is also thought to symbolize the domination of East and West.
The yellow color in the emblem of our university represents the sun in the mythology and symbolism of many cultures, including Turkish. Depending on this element, it expresses various concepts such as reason, mind, perception, intuition and faith. In addition, the Turks accepted yellow as the color of the center in the world scheme. Yellow is the color of the land, that is, the country where one lives. In the symbolism of center, sovereignty and dominance, yellow is also a symbol of fame and progress. For people of religious character, the color yellow also signifies strength in a religious sense. The best example of this is that a Turkish hero from the XIIIth century, one of the Anatolian alperens, is called Sarı Saltuk.
