The cereals and pulses, growing more than half of farming areas in the Turkey and World, are a plant group. Therefore, it could be stated that these plants cultivate about 70% of farming areas in the World and Turkey considering growing the plants in arid and semi-arid regions, mainly fallow areas.
This plant group provides average daily energy in the human diet, more than 60% in the World, while this ratio is much higher in Turkey and developing countries. On the other hand, cereals and pulses provide about 80 percent of human daily nutrient needs, directly and indirectly, considering these plants have an important place in livestock feed. The plant also uses priority as raw material in food and feed industries. Furthermore, this division having importance economically in Turkey and The World is gained to undergraduate and graduate-level theoretical and practical knowledge to introduce industrial crops, growing technics, and breeding about current and future projects in these areas.
