The Department of Russian Language and Literature was established in 1992-1993 Academic Year as a part of Department of Western Languages and Literatures in the Faculty of Science and Letters. The department of Russian Language and Literature, which has been an independent department since June 1996, is a unit that offers four-year undergraduate education.

During four-year education students are offered the courses on Russian language, literatüre and culture. Courses on comprehension and speaking are lectured by experienced instructors.

In the department classrooms equiped with audio visual aids are available and part of courses are lectured in these classrooms. Films about masterpieces of Russian literatüre are watched by students. Besides, students are constantly able to make use of department library containing Works in Russian and Turkish.

Moreover, the department offers a one-year preparation course.

The department proceedsits educational activities with lecturers and all means of equipment in accordence with its mission and vision. Apart from the courses lectured, educational activities are supported upon request of students with additional activities and projects such as Erasmus and Mevlana programs.
